Believe it or not, I interviewed some people this year that didn’t have anything to do with the MGS series. Kristopher Turner has been on my list of Sexiest Men Alive for the past 4 years and after getting to chat with him, he’s just landed himself on there for four more years. Beautiful and talented with an amazing personality? Besides perfect, he’s Canadian so I guess that pretty much explains the perfect part…

Thanks to EVERYONE, the bands and actors I didn’t mention, for making our first year on the web perhaps our most amazing. I can’t wait to see what 2009 has in store for us!

There probably won’t be anymore interviews this year–as I type this, I am looking at all the things that used to be on my desk not so carefully packed into a box beside me. Moving is a bitch but I’m happy to have ended the year with an interview from the always delightful Quinton Flynn. BUT, before the year is up, The Back Room is going to have its first podcast. Yes, a podcast! It’s almost as if I’m catching up to the 21st Century…someone stop me before I buy a Blu-Ray player! Podcasts are a little like writing, you talk about what you know and what do I know better than Metal Gear Solid? Practically nothing. So, I’ve recruited Erick “Panda” Mattos (http://www.cpmstudios.net/), founder of Camp Panda Studios (MGS Machinima) and fellow MGS enthusiast to join me in talking about this year for Metal Gear Solid which will of course include the release of Guns of the Patriotsand the unfortunate departure of Ryan Payton from the Kojima Productions team. We’ll hopefully get to record and post that late November/early December!

So much wonderful behind us, so much more wonderful ahead. 2009 is going to rock! I can feel it!

Someone get me a chapel and a priest because this could get serious. I could have talked to Q all day (and actually kinda tried to until he told me he had to go) and I’m looking forward to, more than anything else in the world right now, hopefully interviewing him and Jeff Nimoy early next year. Maybe? Perhaps? Don’t know. Still working on that.

Anyways, part one of the interview is posted and ready to give your ears orgasms. Or would it be eargasms? Either way, really funny stuff will happen in your naughty regions as you listen. Trust me on this.

After about seven months of chasing down the elusive but brilliant human being that we call Quinton Flynn, I finally backed him into a corner on Tuesday and picked his brain for nearly an hour. It was magical, he was fantastic, and I kept most of my fangirl spasms to myself. HA! Take that 13-year-old girl trapped inside of me that squeals everytime she hears “Got it memorized?”! Calmness and sanity prevails…for the first time ever.

I’m pretty sure it goes without saying that Quinton was completely cool and awesome AND one of the most charming mofos I’ve ever met. Every self-depreciating thing I jokingly said about myself (because, that’s kind of just my humor) he had a quick reply to turn it around. The interview should be posted in a couple of days and I think I’m going to make it a two parter. It’s chalked so full of goodness that it ran a little over my usual 30 minute mark and even after I clean it up of all our goofiness and randomness, I have a feeling it’s still going to. But, again, the interview is dynamite and maybe in the future, I’ll post the whole thing in it’s unedited glory.

And JUST a reminder, be sure to check our good friend Quinton Flynn and our future good friend Jeff Nimoy (who is related to Leonard Nimoy in case you’re wondering) in Adventures In Anime, a brilliant web series that seamlessly combines all the unscripted quirkiness of a documentary and great laughs of a solid sketch comedy. So, four unfortunate events filled days and a demon laptop later, the Kristopher Turner interview is up and ready for your listening/reading enjoyment! He was a ton-o-fun to interview and even talked to me for a few moments afterwards to kindly let me continue to talk his ear off about Instant Star and the such. I can’t wait to see all the wonderful ways in which Kristopher’s career blooms and expands in the very near future. And a special thanks to Lory Bohannon for stepping up at the last moment and being my second pair of eyes for the text of this interview! I know I’ll need you again!

Also, as much as I hate to do this, Kristopher’s interview is the last that will be STREAMED. You’ll still be able to download the audio for future interviews, you just won’t be able to hear it on the page.

This is me, Amanda Mack, circa early 2005. I took this picture the day I recieved Guyver 2: Dark Hero in the mail, courtesy of a special order via my local Barnes & Noble. For years, I’ve half jokingly, half very seriously said about this picture that it’s the closest I’d ever get to David.

Well, even I can be wrong.

I think the most amazing thing about interviewing my idol was essentially not feeling like I was interviewing my idol. I could gush for days and paragraphs more about how great he was to speak with but, I think you’d appreciate just hearing it for yourself a little more.
